Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The timescale
depends upon a few different factors. For instance, how complicated the website
and how quickly we can
obtain web content. For a site that is not over complex you could expect to have your website up and
running in roughly 15 working days - in an emergency, even
quicker. However, we are unable to answer this question exactly until we have
completed a project consultation
(SEE: sample proposal) and we also have to consider our current
customers and workload....

Everything is
possible - BUT making amendments to an already established website can sometimes
prove to be difficult. The
main problems relate to programming and access issues:
Different web designers use different
programming
software. Some sites are not programmed at
all but use a
web content management program. Effectively, the inner programming
is locked and can not be adapted or adjusted - a bit like trying to tune car without
having access to the engine. These programs are great for creating DIY and simple
websites BUT are very difficult to re-program. In addition, websites are
hosted on a variety of different types of server (normally, Linux or Windows).
Each server type will relate to the programming software used to create the
website - the
servers may NOT correspond to the programming software. Other
problems include
hosting access issues - your current webmaster may NOT want to
surrender your website access codes to another company. Ultimately, your current
website will NOT be able to be amended or
optimized unless these hurdles can be navigated. Either way, we
should be able to offer advice as to the best course of action.

Costs vary dependant upon what you want. If you ONLY need a
domain name then costs
are very little. Website design costs are subject to complexity.
Hosting
packages
cost
vary with traffic levels and web space requirements.
Optimization
&
internet marketing
costs vary. By visiting our various webpage sections you should get a good
idea of costs. However, prior to proceeding with any website development
project we complete a proposal which contain details of the costs involved.
(SEE: sample proposal)
When you pay
depends upon what you order.
Domain names and
hosting have to be paid for in
advance. For larger website design projects we normally request a 20%
initial deposit and then request staged payments as we proceed with the
work (pay as you go). Full payment details will be contained in the
written proposal (SEE:
sample proposal).

A great question!
What is the point of having a website if it does not generate any additional
sales or profits. To consider the degree of your website success, we monitor the amount
of traffic (visitors) going to your website. Each month
or quarter 1stWebCyprus will email
you a
report with this information (if you are hosted with us). Based upon this
information appropriate action can be taken.
(SEE: sample proposal)
If you would like to reserve a
domain name or purchase a
hosting package, then you can order directly from our on-line
shop. However, if you are considering starting an internet website from the
beginning we recommend an initial meeting (FREE & no obligation)
where we can offer advise as to what maybe possible - we will ALSO briefly
outline the 1stWebCyprus SIX point plan for online success.

The experience we have gained over years - whilst running our
own online
businesses - has taught us the difference between graphic
design and website design.
Graphic designers ARE required to
design certain elements of a website (logo's, images, typography etc.), BUT are
NOT the ideal candidates to manage a website development program
from beginning to end. They lack specific expertise that is crucial to successful
website development.
Creating a logo, letterhead, leaflet or business card are completely
different when compared to successfully selling products and services online.
The experience we have developed over the past 15 years clearly
demonstrate this - if your website is NOT generating sales or contacts then you
are wasting your time and money. If you decide to utilize our company
services then we will steer your business in the right direction.

YES. If you want your website to be noticed by the search engines then adhering
to current standards (which are constantly updated) could mean the
difference between success and failure. Therefore, we recommend that which ever
company you choose to complete your
website design, confirm that the website
will be designed to W3C Standards.
Exactly the same situation happened to one of our businesses in the past. Whilst
developing our very first
online shop in the United Kingdom ( 1996).
We paid a
lot of money to web designer and wasted a lot of time developing a website. We eventually discovered
that our website was NOT registered with the appropriate
search engines.
The web designer insisted he was to busy to help and suggested we sort the problem out ourselves.
Another situation arose when we registered and paid for 12
domain names
appropriate for our business. We discovered later that even though we had paid
for the domain names they had NOT been registered.
Situations like these are enough to put anyone off developing a website.
However, problems like those discussed can be alleviated by working with the
right people. Over a period of time developing a website presence can lead to
increased sales and profits. Our most recent UK business totaled annual sales of
14 million dollars - the majority of our important clients came from the company
website.
Home broadband penetration in Cyprus is still very low. However, this figure is
set to grow exponentially and is directly proportional to the level of online
sales. By acting promptly your online business can gain an advantage over the
competition - why miss out?
